Larry Gollner
Larry is a long-time Honorary Member of the
Victoria Sketch Club. More recently he has
discovered and enjoys the discipline of abstract
expressionism and the spontaneity of watercolours.
Occasionally, he combines both disciplines in
mixed media paintings.
Larry is from Vancouver. He joined the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry [PPCLI] as a soldier in 1956 and served until 1993,
retiring as a Brigadier General. After leaving the Army, he settled in Victoria, went into business, and became a community volunteer.
Maintaining his devotion to the army and his valued expertise Larry is currently the Patron of the Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans
Association and a member of the Veteran’s Ombudsman’s Advisory Council amongst other activities.

Recently he and his wife Christine Gollner moved to Victoria and became members of the Oak Bay Community Artists Society. They
have three children and seven grandchildren. Larry excelled in art at school and, because his wife Christine is a fine artist, she has
over the years  guided him to acquire his artistic training.
Larry has painted in France and Spain with the International Art Club, and in Canada enjoys plein air painting from which he gains
his inspiration
